Understand this:
You are successful, you are smart, you are productive and proactive, you get things done, you close deals, you work your butt off, you take breaks, you enjoy life, you are calm and satisfied, you are enough, you are loved, you are unique, you are valued, you deserve only the best, you can buy that little something, you are allowed, you can do this, you are not alone, you are everything, you are fab, your hair is awesome, you are funny, you are emotional, you are vulnerable, you are strong, you are rich, you are creative, you are able.
You are all of these things and more.
Sometimes I forget that I’m all of these things, so I shut down and sabotage myself when that happens. I get avoidant, I don’t make things happen, and yet, I let it happen.
After a lot of reading and working on myself, I learned I’m not my anxiety, my depression, or the negative things that my brain tells me I am, because the truth is: I’m not my brain; my brain just happens to say these things, and now I’m able to choose not to give them power.
It’s not easy, though. If you are like me, once you go through that negativity rabbit hole, it’s difficult to snap out of it.
I’m 31 and I still struggle.
I struggle to open my bank account, I struggle reading emails, I struggle to pick up the phone, I struggle to follow up, I struggle writing, I struggle with focus.
But then again, I’ve made shit happen, for me, for my clients, for my friends and family. I can do this. I’m certain that I will keep doing this.
If you’re in a sucky place right now and you keep wondering: Why are am I so lazy, poor, sad, unfocused? And why does this keep happening to me?, then I suggest you start expressing those question in a positive manner such as: How could I have more energy? How can I earn more money? How could I enjoy it? It’s very simple but powerful.
Your dreams will come true if you take action, they won’t if you don’t. You are in control, you can make things happen.
Anxiety comes from uncertainty
Not knowing what the outcome is scary. I wonder: What if I fail? What if they hate me? What if it doesn’t work as I hoped?
Change your perception, embrace uncertainty, trust your journey, and enjoy the process. Keep making decisions and know that you will survive because you can handle it, no matter the outcome.
The key to my existence hides in this poem by Walter. D. Wintle called Thinking:
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t.
If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t;
It is almost a certain – you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost;
For out in this world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the one who thinks he can!
