Eleven TV Shows from the last decade I absolutely loved
- Community (NBC, 2009). The funniest of them all. The series follows an ensemble of characters at a community college in the fictional town of Greendale.
- Game of thrones (HBO, 2011). The hype is real. This fantasy drama show follows a web of alliances and conflicts among the dynasties either wanting the throne or fighting for independence.
- Westworld (HBO, 2016). This very exciting sci-fi thriller depicts a technologically advanced, Western-themed amusement park populated by robots with an incredible AI. It’s a must watch.
- Orange is the New Black (Netflix, 2013). This show is funny and yet so frustrating. It made me cry every time. It’s based on Piper Kerman’s memoir and her experience in federal prison.
- The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu, 2017). This sad and scary show, depicts a dystopian futre following a Second American Civil War wherein a regime subjects fertile women, called “Handmaids”, into child-bearing slavery.
- Black Mirror (Netflix, 2011). This is the most mind bending one. It examines a dystopian society in regard to the consequences of new technologies.
- Fleabag (BBC, 2016). This comedy show is absolutely brilliant as it constantly breaks the fourth wall. It follows an angry, confused, sexually voracious woman and her hilarious experiences.
- The Good Place (NBC, 2016). This one makes me happy. It follows the deaths of four individuals who think they are in heaven.
- Master of None (Netflix, 2015). It’s a lovely show that follows the story of a man and his romantic, professional, and cultural experiences.
- Key and Peele (Comedy Central, 2012). Is a ridicously silly and funny comedy sketch show created by Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele and it cover a variety of societal topics, focusing on American popular culture, ethnic stereotypes and race relations.
- Broad City (Comedy Central, 2014). This comical sitcom is based on the friendship of two funny female characters, and their adventures of carelessness in New York City.

Eleven Films from the last decade I rated 5 stars
- Inception (2010). Directed by Chrisopher Nolan. My favorite movie of all time. A thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a CEO.
- Joker (2019). Directed by Todd Philipps. Comedian Arthur Fleck is disregarded and mistreated by society. He goes down a unhealthy spiral of revolution and bloody crime, which brings him face-to-face with his alter-ego: the Joker.
- Before Midnight (2013). Directed by Richard Linklater. This is the culmination of the long awaited ‘Before’ trilogy. Longtime lovers Jesse and Celine reminisce about their lives together.
- Boyhood (2014). Directed by Richard Linklater. This coming-of-age drama depicts the childhood and adolescence of Mason Evans Jr. as he grows up in Texas with divorced parents
- Eight Grade (2018). Directed by Bo Burnahm. Another coming-of-age story follows the struggles of an eighth-grader, during her last week of classes before graduating to high school. She struggles with social anxiety but produces vlogs giving life advice.
- Get out (2017). Directed by Jordan Peele. This horror film is about a black man who uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets the family of his white girlfriend.
- Inside out (2015). Directed by Pete Docter. This lovely animated film by pixar is about a girl and her five core emotions, Fear, Anger, Joy, Disgust and Sadness, and how she struggles to cope with her new life.
- Marriage Story (2019) Directed by Noah Baumbach. This gruelling divorce story following a stage director and his actor wife, and how that process pushes them to their personal and creative extremes.
- Whiplash (2014). Directed by Damien Chazelle. Is the story of a drummer who enrols in a music conservatory, but he is mentored by unconventional teacher whose training methods push him beyond the boundaries of reason and sensibility.
- Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Directed by George Miller. This film depics a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Max, a drifter and survivor, unwillingly joins Imperator Furiosa, a rebel warrior, in a quest to overthrow a tyrant who controls the land’s water supply.
- Bridesmaids (2011). Directed by Paul Feig. This is film is so iconic. Annie, a jobless chef, is asked by her best friend, Lillian, to be her maid of honour. Hilarity ensues.
